Opening worship was led by the Revd Helen Everard, Moderator\u2019s Chaplain. She introduced a hymn by Graham Adams, \u2018We come to praise our God\u2019. Its assertion that \u201cwe who commit to Christ\u2026 love diversity\u201d was the focus of the reading from the book of Acts \u2013 the story of Cornelius, a centurion who accepts the gospel preached by the apostle Peter and is remembered as the first named gentile to convert to Christianity.<\/p>\n
